A lovely and secluded location, Mermaid cave is found along Megalong road. There are 2 entry points, one at the top of the road just at the right hand hairpin and the second further down on the flat. The second entry is easier and potentially has better parking. There is no disability access here, it is dirt tracks as well as rock stair cases and alot of low lying shrubs. There is a small waterfall, increases volumes after rain but nothing too major. It is a really nice, secluded of the blackheath area and a must see !
You can park your car near the entrance, just be careful walking down the stone steps as they are steep and can be slippery and mossy due to the dark and wet nature of the area. Once you get down, though, it is beautiful and feels like you are in your own little world!
Amazing place the walk down was a little steep but worth the walk when u get down there it feel like a different world the rock can be aliitle slippery but amazing place
Beautiful pretty little waterfall and 10 minute circular walk around moist rainforest and tree ferns, and a steep staircase hand-made out of local rock in the 1930's Start at the hairpin bend on the road down, and walk south and down the staircase to another world of tree ferns and water. Under the waterfall is a lovely cool little pond for wading in. Follow the path out to the road 50 metres east of the waterfall. The waterfall and walk is at the north end of the recreation reserve.
